Did anyone see this ranking of the toughest sports to play? sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/sportSkillsBoxing came out number 1 with Ice hockey being a surprising #2. I don't think they gave enough props to water polo or rugby, two VERY tough sports which aren't very well known in America.. Lots of data there but generally I think they did an okay job.

Except for some of the skill positions, football can be a relatively easy game--offensive lineman, e.g. don't have to be fast, they don't have to have great eye-hand coordination (although that probably helps), and there isn't the "fear factor" involved (not much anyhow). The fear factor makes it tough for some hitters to hit a baseball buzzin in at 90 mph. plus. The fear factor makes it tough for boxers who've been hit loopy. The fear factor is somethin' that QBs sittin' in the pocket face. Boxing is a good choice for number 1, I think -- you gotta be in great shape, you gotta have great hand-eye coordination, you gotta have "no fear". Of course, if you're a golfer, you've always gotta be fearful of Bob Barker comin' out of the bushes and pummelin' you.
